The West Fresno Ministerial Alliance responded to an invitation from the Haiti Baptist Connection Seminary in Port-au-Prince. On March 25, 2011, the team, in conjunction with Jaron Ministries and Fresno Pacific University, went to Haiti on an educational and humanitarian mission.
During the 8 days, we taught in the Good Samaritan Orphanage, The Institution Mixte Lumiere De L’Espoir (School of Light and Hope), and the Haitian Baptist Connection Seminary. The team’s goal was to train leaders; respond to a need; and establish an international collaboration for projects of leadership development.
West Fresno Ministerial Alliance Outreach Director and Team Leader, Pastor Edward B. Lee says “The response from the leaders of the schools and orphanage was a blessing to us and we, as well, were able to bless them. Seminary students received certificates in Leadership and Discipleship studies. Our team was able to serve over 100 students in the primary school and in the orphanage. In addition to this, we were blessed by the love and generosity of the Haitian people. Thanks to all of those who helped to support this team through your finances and prayers. Because of your generosity, lives were encouraged, and God gets the glory.”
The team members consisted of Team Leader Pastor Edward B. Lee, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Ms. Gwen Burks, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and employee of Fresno State, Pastor Angulus Wilson, New Beginnings Baptist Church and University Pastor of Fresno Pacific University, Ms. Jasmine People, New Beginnings Baptist Church and currently a junior at Fresno Pacific University, and Pastor Jonathan Villalobos, Bethany Inner City Church.
